Similan National Park, located in Phang Nga Province, is one of Thailand’s most breathtaking marine national parks. Famous for its crystal-clear waters, white sandy beaches, and vibrant coral reefs, the park is a top destination for nature lovers, divers, and island adventurers.
The name “Similan” comes from the Malay word “Sembilan,” which means “nine.” Originally, the Similan Islands referred to nine islands (numbered 1 to 9), later expanded to include two more islands (10 and 11 – Koh Bon and Koh Tachai) when they were added to the national park in the 1990s.

The most famous landmark on Koh 8 is Sail Rock, a giant granite boulder perched high above the island. The viewpoint hike is short but steep, taking around 10–15 minutes, and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the turquoise sea, white beaches, and surrounding islands.
